A
Ceremony of Your Own
When I
married my husband in 1975, the celebrant gave us complete control over the
ceremony. The vows we made were personal and meaningful.
Now I am a
celebrant, and I have found that some couples write their own ceremony; some
would prefer I did it for them; and most have a few ideas and want me to put it
all together.
Every
ceremony is different. You can include rituals such as candle lighting,
exchanges of gifts and ring warming. Family and friends can be involved in ways
that match their abilities and confidence. At the ceremony’s conclusion,
everyone present will know a little more about who you are, and what is
important to you.
As a nurse,
librarian and personal carer I have helped people from many backgrounds. Now it
is my privilege to enable couples and families to create ceremonies which will
give them enduring, wonderful memories.
